Etisalat Egypt soft launches May 1
Etisalat will soft launch Egypt's third mobile phone network on May 1, making it the first operator to launch 3G in the populous North African country.
Vodafone Egypt Acquires the 3G License.
Under the auspices of H.E. Prime Minister Dr Ahmed Nazif, and in the presence of H.E. Dr Ghali Minister of Finance; H.E. Dr Kamel Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Dr Amr Badawy Executive President of the NTRA (National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority), and Mr Ian Gray CEO Vodafone Egypt signed the 3G license.
MobiNil Signs A Partnership Agreement With Egypt’s First Virgin Megastore
The Egyptian Company for Mobile Services (mobinil) has signed a partnership agreement with Egypt’s first Virgin Megastore, the local branch of a worldwide records, games and electronics superstore that is one of the largest on the planet.The signing agreement took place on September 12 2005, and was attended by Jean Claude Torbey, Regional General Manager of Virgin Megastore and Osman Sultan, MobiNil’s CEO.

Expanding its wide range of elegant and affordable phones for consumers in emerging markets, Nokia today unveiled the Nokia 2652 phone. The stylish and functional Nokia 2652 fold model builds on the success of the award-winning Nokia 2650, adding two new design motifs, 'Cell' and 'Fleur' with dark gray and pearl white key mats for consumers to choose from. It is expected to be commercially available in October 2005 with an estimated retail price of 100 EUR before subsidies or taxes. Nokia introduced seven new handsets under the heading “Simple Pleasures.” Four new slide phones were revealed, including the 3G-enabled Nokia 6280 for WCDMA markets, and the Nokia 6265, Nokia’s most feature-filled CDMA model to date. Additionally, Nokia introduced two folding designs and a traditional monoblock design. All seven models are expected to begin shipping in the second half of 2005.
